- Validity: Certification without a membership number is invalid and will not be recognized.

Overview of the ProCounsel Cert © certification levels
In order to meet the different stages of development and needs in psychological counseling, the Professional Counselor Certification - ProCounsel Cert offers three clearly defined levels of certification. These levels are designed to enable counselors not only to validate and deepen their skills, but also to progressively expand their professional standing and scope of practice. Below we give you a detailed insight into the individual stages of the certification process, which range from basic training to expertise in psychological counseling. This structured progression ensures high quality in counseling practice and helps counselors grow in their professional careers.
Please note - the 4 levels of certification do not have to be completed one after the other, and direct entry to a higher certification level is also possible with the appropriate qualifications. Find out more in the following overviews.
1- Basic Certification: Psychological Counselor Associate ©
- Qualification criteria: This level confirms basic knowledge and initial practical experience in the field of psychological counseling. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of the Code of Ethics and the quality standards of VpsyB e.V.
- Examination process: Candidates undergo the admission procedure of VpsyB e.V., which includes a review of the documents submitted and a structured interview.

- Qualification criteria: Prerequisite is an extended specialized knowledge and mature practical skills in various consulting contexts, including the independent handling of complex situations.
- Examination process: Applicants must submit a paper in their area of specialization and take an oral examination, which takes place online in front of at least two members of the certification committee.
3 - Expert Certification: Psychological Counselor Expert ©
- Qualification criteria: This level is characterized by exceptional professional expertise and specialization, which enables you to act effectively in complex and demanding consulting settings and to take on leadership roles.
- Exam Process: The Psychological Counselor Expert certification exam includes several elements: a written case analysis to demonstrate in-depth understanding, the creation and oral defense (online) of a counseling plan to demonstrate planning skills, and an online oral exam that evaluates communication skills, subject matter knowledge, and problem-solving skills. This demanding multi-part exam ensures that only highly qualified consultants receive certification.

The seal of approval "Excellence in quality and client safety for psychological counselors outside the medical profession" is the highest-ranking additional qualification that both
